42. Mini-Me

Fall is quickly approaching, but it's not time to break out the heavy coats just yet. For those cooler end-of-summer days, I put together this outfit: a summery floral skirt, a cool crop top, and a bright chunky sweater. I topped it off with my favorite loafer heels--the quintessential fall shoe. My little sister, Caroline, (who I featured on my blog here, as well) also put together a more casual autumn look, complete with adorable combat boots. If only we were the same shoe size...

My Look
crop top: Forever 21 // sweater: c/o Aeropostale // skirt: Forever 21 // shoes: Sperry Top-Sider

Caroline's Look

ps. Caroline just made her own blog! Check it out here :)

Ah, sisterly love.

Aeropostale Making a Comeback?

What do I think of teen clothing store Aeropostale?
Good question.
In 6th grade (circa 2008), I would have said that it was my absolute favorite store. I would have begged to go there whenever possible and begged for a gift card for my birthday and begged to have one of those bedazzled henley tops with the butterfly logo.
In 9th grade (circa 2011), I would have said no way. I would have retweeted one of those tweets that said something along the lines of, "A moment of silence for those who still wear Aeropostale."
Now, in 2013, I am saying okay. Let's give it a second chance. You see, Aeropostale had been going through a rough patch, and they knew it. That's why they are currently in the process of reengineering, complete with new fashion direction, new strategy, and new style. Will it work? I don't know. What I do know is that I am willing to keep my mind open.

It appears that many fashion folk are keeping their minds open, too. Clothing from Aeropostale's new fall collection (the debut of their never-before-seen fashion direction) is set to be featured in Cosmo, InStyle, Teen Vogue, Glamour and People Style Watch this fall. Plus, on July 12th, WWD did a feature all about Aero's comeback. Clearly, the store has stepped up its game in terms of press. Aeropostale has also launched an exclusive VIP program of style influencers--a program I will be taking part in. I'm excited to see their collection and form my own opinions about the store based on what they're doing now, instead of what they used to do. I hope you keep your mind open to the store's new look, too. Stay tuned...I can't wait to show you my favorite pieces!

40. jeans + tee

top: StyleMint // jeans: Zara // necklace: JewelMint // Shoes: Target

This outfit is rather simple, but I wanted a blank canvas for my new necklace, which I'm absolutely in love with. The quality is really nice, and it feels special and eye-catching against a plain white tee. Clearly, I've been addicted to the Mint websites, ordering from StyleMint, JewelMint, and ShoeMint (not pictured in this outfit) within the past month.
I also wore this necklace-tee combo with a faux leather skirt, different wedges, and a pink crossbody the other day. My friends and I went to see The Bling Ring, the new Sofia Coppola film about teens who rob celebrities. I enjoyed the movie a lot, especially the fascinating fashion and scenery (many scenes are filmed inside Paris Hilton's actual house). Here is a photo of that night's look (and some beautiful fountain posing):

skirt: Forever 21 // bag: Nine West // shoes: Sam Edelman for American Eagle

Speaking of my friends, I wanted to share something (not fashion-related) with you. One of my good friends, Olivia, is a singer-songwriter. She just made a music video for one of the songs from her new album, which is on iTunes now! It would mean so much to me if you watch the video below; the song is cheery, fun, and will leave you feeling super happy :)

Cool, right!?
Like her Facebook page and check out her other songs on iTunes!

The Fashion It List--Summer 2013

The Fashion It List--Summer 2013

1. Top: houseoffraser.co.uk // Skirt: selectfashion.co.uk
2. Top: Zara // Scarf: Matthew Williamson // Shorts: Topshop // Dress: Michael Kors
3. Dress (left): Target // Dress (middle): Versace // Dress (right): Issa
4. Top (left): Zara // Top (right): Forever 21

1. Crop Top + Skirt Duos: Matchy-matchy is the way to go with these cool top-and-skirt pairs. Buy them separately in different fabrics, like a cotton top with a leather skirt, or go full-on with the trend by flaunting an identical print-on-print set.

2. Tropical Prints: Summer is the perfect time to embrace your inner Hawaiian girl. Tropical floral and leaf prints are showing up everywhere. Aloha.

3. Little Yellow Dress: Move aside, LBD. This season is calling for a splash of sunshine.

4. Graphic Tees: When I think "graphic tees," my mind flashes back to sixth-grade rhinestone-coated Aeropostale tops. Fortunately, there is a new wave of screen-printed shirts, and they are cuter than ever. Try a fun image or even words!
