The Fall 2012 Fashion It List

1. Bucket Bags: These bucket-shaped purses are cute and convenient. They are ideal for holding lots of goodies, yet they make a serious style statement. Look for ones with details like buttery leather, metal embellishments, and handy drawstrings!

2. Gold Collar Necklaces: Collared shirts are a staple for fall, so why not jazz them up with a highlighting necklace? These are simple, fashionable, and look totally chic in any fall wardrobe.

3. Fun Loafers: Say goodbye to boring black loafers. This fall, the best ones have interesting details: you should think studs, prints, bright colors, and even glitter!

4. Printed Jeans: Quirky-printed shorts were a hit for the hot summer days, and the trend is continuing into the colder seasons. To keep the look classy and cute, stick to fall colors, especially jewel tones like sapphire and ruby. This trend is all about having fun, so pick a wild print, but don't forget to wear non-competing shirts and accessories by pulling out neutrals and solids.

Glitter Polka Dots (Nail Tutorial)

This is a fun, glittery nail tutorial. Enjoy!

{The Polish}
Mint green: Love and Beauty in the shade Mint
Top/Base Coat: e.l.f. in the shade Clear
Loose glitter: JoAnn Craft Essentials Xtra Fine Glitter

You will also need something to make polka dots. You could use the tip of a bobby pin or any other round-headed object. I used a sewing pin and stuck the pointy side into a pencil eraser so that it would be easy to hold. See the images below of my version.

{The Process}
1. Apply base coat, then two coats of the mint color (or whatever color you decide to use). Let dry.

2. Pour some loose glitter onto a plate or bowl.

3. Dip your polka-dotter tool into the clear nail polish and quickly dot onto a nail. I did three to five dots on each nail, but you could do more if you use a smaller tool.

4. Before the polish dries, dip the nail into the glitter pile. Repeat for each nail.

5. Tap the nails so that the excess glitter comes off. Once the polish dries a bit more, you will probably have to use your finger to push the remaining glitter off around the dots.

6. Apply a top coat (or two).

7. Clean up time! A few tips for cleaning up spilled glitter:
-sweep as much as you can into a dust pan
-use a lint roller or masking tape to pick up the rest of the glitter
-if you have it on hand, play-dough also works great for picking up glitter

I hope you try this nail look because it is a lot of sparkly fun and looks even better in person!

Nail Marbling {No Water}

This is a fun summer nail look that I am wearing for 4th of July!

{The Polish}
White Base Coat: Sally Hansen Sheer Romance in the shade Naturel White
Pearl: Sinful Colors in the shade Tokyo Pearl
Blue: Sinful Colors in the shade Why Not
Red: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in the shade Cherry Red
Top Coat: Sally Hansen Crystal Strength in the shade Flawless

{The Process}
This nail art was done by a marbling technique--but without the usual water used in marbling methods.
1. Apply a base coat of white polish.
2. Pick a few colors and drop a couple of dots of each to one of your nails.
3. Lay a plastic sandwich bag on top of the nail, pressing the polish dots into one another. This should create a marbled effect.
4. Finish with a top coat, and clean up the edges with nail polish remover and a cotton swab.

I learned how to do this nail art from the amazing tutorial by MissJenFABULOUS. See it here:
