Blast from the Past: "Old" is the New "New"

These are some pages from the October 1977 issue of Seventeen magazine that are featuring certain trends of that time period and how to style them. Most of the styles are actually back in fashion now and stronger than ever! The trends listed are as follows: pencil jeans, burgundy, menswear, an Oriental vest, gold sandals, a man's hat, a pale green sweater, and a silver jumpsuit.

First up is pencil jeans. These are $125 from J. Crew. They look so sleek, especially when working the denim-on-denim trend!

The Fashion It List- September 2011

The Fashion It List- September 2011

click on the pictures for more details or to purchase an item!

1. Sequin Tops- These shirts are so gorgeous! They are all in basic colors, but the sparkly sequins would make your whole outfit stand out in a crowd.

2. Cross body bags- These bags are very versatile, as well as practical. Whether you opt for a sleek leather in black, a pop of color with chain details on the straps, or anything else, your cross body bag will become your favorite!

3. Riding Boots- I love this style of boot in a dark brown color with shiny buckles like the ones shown above. These boots are a staple for this fall season.

4. Geometric Prints- Big, bold prints were all over the runways! A geometric knit sweater or shirt mixes comfort with edginess.

Blast from the Past: Peasant Tops

I came across this lovely photo of peasant dressing in the October 1977 issue of Seventeen. The shirt featured here is actually very similar to what can be found in stores today. Below are some of my favorite modern-day peasant tops for the fall season. Just please don't pair them with the crazy skirt and belt combo above!

$27.80- Forever 21

$24.80- Forever 21

$27.80- Forever 21

I couldn't copy a picture for this one, but check out this navy blue peasant style top from American Eagle for $39.50.

This Anthropologie top is on the expensive side ($79.95), but it is just gorgeous!
