37. Tux

Top: H&M // Shorts: Forever 21 // Sandals: Forever 21 // Earrings: American Eagle

I'm super obsessed with wearing dressy shorts in the summer in the place of a skirt. They have a cool, somewhat edgy-ish vibe, and I adore the silky print on these ones from Forever 21. I did an online order from the F21 site last week, and these tuxedo-striped dress shorts were one of the looks I decided to keep (chances are, when I order 30-something pieces after midnight, half of it will be going back to the store). I was surprised when I loved the shorts so much; they were one of my Eh, might as well try 'em shopping cart additions. But, they will be getting lots of wear this summer!

The Fashion It List--Spring 2013

The Fashion It List--Spring 2013

1. Mod Prints (left to right): Etsy, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton
2. Bell-sleeve (left to right): Alice & Olivia, Alice & Olivia, Issa
3. Pastels: Aldo (earrings), Splendid (top), Valentino (clutch)
4: Denim Vests: Rebecca Taylor (left), Boohoo.com (top right), Proenza Schouler (bottom right)

The Spring 2013 Fashion It List

1. Mod, Graphic Prints: Graphic prints were ubiquitous on the Spring 2013 runways. Big names (Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, etc.) showed even bigger prints with bold 60s influences. The looks are daring, but spring is the perfect time to clean out the closet and add some fresh designs.

2. Bell-sleeves: I have been addicted to finding the perfect bell-sleeve top lately. I think my time spent on Pinterest has tripled in the past week, all in the search for this 70s-style wardrobe must-have. You could say I'm obsessed. Anyway, playful designers like Alice & Olivia have been stocking their showrooms with bell-sleeves. Needless to say, I'm loving it.

3. Pastels: Easter-egg colors are simply a staple for the spring season. But, instead of just buying lavender sweaters or peach blouses, you can try some updates on the color scheme this year. For example, try pastel color-blocking on clothing and accessories. Also, be sure to check out edgier ways to wear pastel colors, such as a sherbet-colored, studded clutch à la Valentino.

4. Denim Vests: Lightweight vests are perfect for the days that heat is in the air, but you don't want your outfit to look like it belongs in July. Throw a denim vest over a tank top and skirt, or pair it with denim shorts for a trendier look.

36. Shades

This is little black dress look #7, the final look of the Dress for Change series!
What's Dress for Change? Read about it here!

Dress: American Eagle // Belt: Forever 21 // Sunglasses: Forever 21 // Shoes: Target

This is the last day of Dress for Change week, so I wanted to show off the full dress and keep the accessories simple. I wore a thick belt with several shades of grey and added a pop of color with bright blue wedges. I also decided to sport my aviator shades because it was beautifully sunny outside today. I am so happy that the warm weather will be staying for a while--I will hopefully start photographing outdoors again!

I also want to thank my friend Sheyanne, the creator of the Dress for Change project. It is truly amazing that for every Dress for Change participant, Sheyanne will be making a dress to be given to a girl in Africa.

35. Show the Lights

Dress (worn as top): American Eagle // Skirt: Forever 21 // Jacket: H&M // Shoes: Charles by Charles David

I rolled my dress up into a crop top for the second-last look of Dress for Change Week. Since it is a pretty thin dress, it was an easy change. Plus, the jacket covers up any lumpiness in the back of the new top. I love the result!

34. Braid

Dress: American Eagle // Scarf: Forever 21 // Belt: Forever 21 // Shoes: Sam Edelman for American Eagle

The temperature outside is finally warming up around here, so I celebrated by not wearing a jacket! I also pulled out one of my favorite lightweight scarves--it has gorgeous iridescent threads woven into the light pink color. When I bought it, it reminded me of the scarf from the first episode of Hannah Montana (proceed to make fun of me).
I added a bit more color by tying a coral belt around my waist. Whenever a belt is too long for me, I wrap the extra around the front to create a braided texture. The twisted belt looked perfect with my twisted, braided hair!

Dress: American Eagle // Sweater: Old Navy // Shoes: Old Navy // Necklace: Macy's

I kept this look simple for a night out to dinner with basic black pumps and a string of pearls around my neck. Never underestimate the power of a little black dress!

Dress: American Eagle // Top: Gap // Shoes: Target // Scarf: thrifted // Bracelet: Brandy Melville

This is my rainy-day outfit...plus an umbrella, of course! To splash in the wet puddles, I threw on my  lovely little half-rain boots. I adore the gold button details on their sides.
Despite my weather-proof outfit, I am still wishing the rain to go away and come again another day :)

31. Over the Moon

This is little black dress look #2, part of the Dress for Change series!

Dress: American Eagle // Top: Brandy Melville // Shoes: Target // Belt: Forever 21

I loved pairing this black moon tank over my dress for an edgier look. Belting a shirt on top of a dress is a simple way to make the dress feel new again.
